We are excited to announce that for this year’s Carlisle Memorial Day parade, our middle school and high school bands will again be performing together as one ensemble. We have an arrangement of This Is My Country that has been done by Jay Dawson for us to use as a combined band parade tune. The arrangement has parts for our high school band players as well as parts for our middle school students.
We again welcome our Carlisle High School Band Alumni, parents and friends of the band to join us for this performance! We hope that our alumni, parents and friends will dust off the instruments and flags and help us remember those who have served and those who continue to serve our country. If you would like to play and need an instrument, please contact Mr. Mikesell.
The music for the parade is easily playable by all and may be printed from this site so you may start practicing today!
We thank all participants in advance for their contribution and commitment to making our band’s Memorial Day Parade performance special. We trust that this experience with our combined band/alumni/parents/friends will help us to reinforce a sense of pride and tradition in our current band students, give our alumni, parents and friends a great reason to play, twirl, or do whatever it is that you do, and serve our community as we honor all who have served to protect and defend the freedoms that we enjoy!
Parade Date and Time
The parade will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, 2023. Combined band participants must report by 8:00 AM to the corner of Hanover and North Streets. The parade steps off at 9:00 AM. Ending at the square around 9:20 AM.
Concert and Symphonic band will be playing on the square immediately following the parade and ending around 10:30 AM.
Uniform
The uniform for high school students, alumni, parents and friends is khaki pants, white shirt or band polo, brown belt, and white sneakers (or white band shoes).
Middle school students should wear either the same as above or the middle school band sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers. (Note: The band sweatshirts are rather warm to wear for this parade most years, so it is good to have a white shirt ready to wear unless it promises to be cool.)
Rehearsal Schedule
Wednesday, May 24, 2023 – 2:45 PM – 4:15 PM (Wilson Middle School) for all students and any alumni, parents and friends of the band who wish to attend. (rain or shine)
Friday, May 26, 2023 – 6:00 PM – 7:15 PM (CHS Band Room) for all students and alumni, parents and friends of the band. (rain or shine)
