We have opened a http://www.shopwithscrip.com account as an ongoing fundraiser for the Band. Anyone can purchase gift cards at any time. You can ask family members, friends, and co-workers to purchase cards as gifts, or to use personally. So how does it work?
You buy store cards through Shop With Scrip. The store card is worth the full value of the purchase price, but the Band receives a percentage of the purchase price back. So if you buy a $100 card for Home Depot (for example), you pay $100. You now have a card worth $100 to spend at Home Depot. And the band gets back $4, because Home Depot offers a 4% rebate. Various store offer 2-13%. These cards can be purchased online or through the Band; online has a quicker turn-around time, but you must get the CHS Band code from Anne Otto (we’re not allowed to post the code, sorry). Congratulations to Carlisle High School’s former band director, Dave Rohrer, for receiving the 2015 Rodney Miller Distinguished Service Award from PMEA! This award was presented to Dave at the Carlisle Town Band performance on Sunday, April 24.
The Reunion Committee of the 1970 Carlisle High School Band would like to thank the donors to the project of restoring and preserving the two historical CHS Band flags. The newly restored and framed flags will be officially presented to the Carlisle School District as part of the Carlisle High School Band Concert on Thursday, May 5 (7:00pm) at the “Clyde and Lyn Barr Auditorium” at Carlisle High School. Please plan to come to the concert to see how beautifully the project has turned out and to attend the reception in the lobby following the concert. Congratulations to junior trumpet player Herman Makosky, who represented Carlisle High School in the PMEA Region 5 Band this past weekend at Central York High School! Herman will also represent Carlisle at PMEA All-State Orchestra on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 10:30 am in Hershey.
Congratulations to our Indoor Percussion for their 1st place wins at the Red Land and the Mechanicsburg competitions this past weekend! Carlisle scored 78.05 in the morning at Red Land and later scored 83.01 at the Mechanicsburg competition. Way to go Indoor Percussion!
With the new car show season fast approaching, we need volunteers to come out and help get our concession stand ready! The cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 2016, from 8am until noon at our fairground concession stand.
Next Tuesday, March 8, will be the “Music In Our Schools Concert” at 7:00 pm in the Barr Auditorium. This concert features Concert Band and Symphonic Band, as well as Orchestra, Concert Choir, Bel Canto and Chamber Singers. Come out and support our band students as well as our music program!
