Cookies and Cocoa Reception

The boosters would like to invite our band students, band families, staff, and alumni to a Cookies and Cocoa Reception following the Carlisle Christmas Parade on Friday, December 6, 2019. The parade begins at 7 PM and the reception will be held in the St. John’s Episcopal Church directly after the parade.

Please enter through the side ally kitchen door off High Street. High Street Side entrance will be open for families to gather after parade.

We need parents to sign up to donate cookies, salty snacks, dessert plates, and also to help with setup and cleanup. Sign Up Here. Hot Chocolate will he provided, courtesy of the Band Boosters. Thank you for contributing!

Weekly Schedule and Competition Information

The weekly schedule is available in the Members Only section. Please note – there is no rehearsal on Saturday due to Homecoming.

Also, Cavalcade of Bands marching band championships will be held on Saturday, November 10 in Allentown, PA.  Links for ticket and spectator information can be found on our 2018 Competition page. Carlisle is competing in the Liberty conference. Provided the average of our last three scores for the regular season is high enough, we will be competing in Liberty Open on Saturday evening.

Volunteer Opportunities
We still have many open positions for the concession stand and a few spots open to help with parking. View volunteer opportunities here. Please note that you can only gain free admittance to the competition if you are signed up to help. Everyone who is signed up to help will receive wristbands for free entrance to the competition and without a wristband you must pay. There are a few job positions that are not on the signups, and in those cases you must notify Heather for approval and to be put on the list of volunteers. News From the Uniform Committee

Ironing Bee
On Wednesday, August 8 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm there will be an ironing bee to press all the white pants for picture day. Anyone interested should email Ellen Morgan at to let her know. You will need to bring your own iron, ironing board, and a hand towel to put between iron and pants.

Fittings for Dinkles (band shoes) will start Tuesday, July 24. Orders must be submitted at the end of the day on Monday, August 6. All new students will automatically get fitted for shoes. If your child is a returning student and needs new dinkles, they must see someone from the uniform committee.

Varsity Jackets
Attention 10th, 11th and 12th graders! The first fitting for varsity jackets will be Tuesday, August 7 at 5:45 pm in the fitting room. Forms and payment are due by Friday, August 10th. No order can be submitted without payment. Parents are welcome to come to the fitting.

Jacket Costs:

  • If this is your first year in marching band, the cost is $140.00
  • If you have completed one full year in our band, the cost is $105.00.
  • If you have completed two full years in our band, the cost is $70.00
  • If you have completed three full years in our band, the cost is $35.00
  • If you have completed four full years in our band, the cost is FREE.

In Memoriam – Mr. Greg Swartzlander

Mr. Greg Swartzlander, former CHS marching band staff member, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 5 at age 49.  Greg was part of the marching band’s visual design team  from 1991 – 1997 and in 2008 – 2011. He was a great supporter of the CHS Marching Band and his contributions to the marching program were greatly appreciated. Greg will be missed by many in the band and drum corps world.

Mr. Clyde Barr

It is with great sadness that we inform you that early this morning Mr. Clyde Barr passed away. Clyde was a beloved band director at Carlisle High School from 1962/63 until 1976/77, and he touched the lives of so many of us. He will be missed.

A Celebration of the Life of Clyde Barr will be held on Sunday, July 1, at 1:30pm at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church Social Hall (87 Marsh Drive,
Carlisle, PA 17015). A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
